How does the judge decide my case?
The judge will not make a ruling at the hearing. The judge reviews the information provided at the hearing, applies the laws to your case and issues a written decision. The judge must follow the law when making a decision. A judge cannot change or ignore a rule or law.
When will I get a decision?
Deadlines vary based on the type of case you have. At the end of your hearing, the judge will let you know how long they have to issue their decision. A written decision will be mailed to you or sent by secure email if you have requested that service. You can also access your Portal to view the decision.
What if I disagree with the decision?
If you disagree with the judge’s decision you have the right to appeal. Your appeal rights depend on the type of case.
There will be instructions on how to appeal included with the written decision. Be sure to follow the instructions. There are strict deadlines and requirements.
