There are two ways you can file an appeal:
- File with OAH to request a hearing with us.
- File with the agency that sent you the decision you are appealing. The agency then refers your appeal to OAH.
OAH can only accept the following 4 types of hearing requests online:
- Most Health Care Authority (HCA) cases with the exception of Apple Health (MAGI appeals)
- Public Assistance cases
- WA Cares-Beneficiary cases (DSHS)
- WA Cares-Provider cases (DSHS)
Other types of appeal requests must be filed directly with the agency, see below for more information.

In most cases, OAH cannot directly accept requests for hearing.
If you disagree with an agency notice, read it carefully. It has instructions on how to appeal. It is your responsibility to follow those instructions. If you do not, you may lose your right to appeal.
