What to expect after the hearing is over:

When will I get a decision?

After your hearing, you will receive a written decision in the mail.  You will be mailed the decision within two weeks.

The decision will be written in English.  If an interpreter was used for the hearing, you can get a free oral translation of the decision by calling OAH at (800) 583-8271.

What if I don't receive my decision within 2 weeks?

Please allow two weeks for your decision to arrive.  If you have not received it after two weeks, please call OAH at the number listed on your Notice of Hearing as soon as possible.

What is my right to appeal OAH's decision?

If you disagree with the judge’s decision, you have a right to file an appeal with the Commissioner’s Review Office.  This type of appeal is called a Petition for Review. The judge will include Petition for Review instructions with the decision that is mailed to you.  The deadline to file your Petition for Review will also be on the decision.

You may also appeal the judge’s decision directly to the Superior Court.  Please contact the Superior Court if you want to file an appeal with them.  They will have special rules on how to do so.
