After your Child Support Hearing

When will I get an order?

In most cases, the judge will not tell you what their decision is at the hearing. You will receive a written order in the mail. You should receive your order 3 weeks after the record closes.

The order will be written in English. For a free translation of your order, call 360-407-2700 or 800-583-8271.

What if I don't receive my order within 4 weeks?

Please allow four weeks and time for mailing for your order to arrive unless the judge said otherwise. If you do not receive it, please call OAH at 360-407-2700 or 800-583-8271 as soon as possible.

What if I disagree with the order?

There are two ways to appeal an order. You may ask the judge to reconsider their decision. Your request must be in writing. Send your request to OAH. Do not send it to DCS. OAH must receive your request within ten calendar days from the date OAH mailed the order. The request must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the last day. Requests uploaded to the Participant Portal or received by fax after 5:00 p.m. will be marked as received on the next business day.

You may also appeal the order to superior court. You must file a petition for judicial review within 30 calendar days from the date OAH mailed the order. Please contact the superior court if you want to file an appeal with them.

For “address disclosure” appeals, please check your order or call 360-407-2700 or 800-583-8271.
